Where to Shop Pre-Loved Clothes Online at Great Prices

It's no secret that I'm a big fan of shopping pre-loved clothes, but it definitely hasn't always been that way. I remember begrudgingly searching through Goodwill for Hollister and Abercrombie & Fitch T-shirts in middle school. I was jealous that my friend's parents bought them clothes straight from the stores themselves, and that I had to find used ones from thrift stores. Little did I realize that the dirty stigma thrifting held would soon be lifted! I've always loved finding a good deal, and always loved clothes! Over the past few years, I've realized that shopping consignment and thrift is the best way to find quality pieces that will stand the test of time at an amazing price!

I've recently discovered an even better way to shop pre-loved clothing- online! Here's a few of my favorite online thrift shops you can shop from anywhere. Make sure to read my tips here on how to find clothes online that will actually fit before buying online.

Start by searching for brands you know you love, then you can also search for specific items (i.e. "loafers"). A few of my go-to's are Everlane, Nisolo, Eileen Fisher, Patagonia, Madewell, J Crew, Ann Taylor, Anthropologie, American Eagle, Nike, and Lululemon.

1. ThredUp

ThredUp is AMAZING! Seriously, you'll fall in love. My first tip is to search for brands that you love, and that are high quality. ThredUp has really affordable prices, and you may have to do a little online digging, but it's so worth it!

2. Poshmark

Poshmark is great for purchasing more expensive items that you don't mind being gently worn. I'd say this is the best shop to get running shoes, high-end designer clothes, formal dresses, etc. When you purchase on Poshmark you are shopping people's personal closets, so they will also give you bundle deals if you buy multiples from their shop, and you can negotiate the price.

3. Tradesy

I personally haven't purchased from Tradesy before, but after searching through their inventory, I think I'm going to start! I am impressed by their vast selection on specific, high-quality brands. Tradesy is a little on the pricier side, but the prices are still fair and a very good deal. You can also list your own items on Tradesy, and they will do the shipping for you by sending the box straight to your door!

4. OfferUp

While OfferUp may not be the number one place to find clothes, it's similar to Poshmark in that you might be able to find a specific pair of shoes or formal dresses that people want to get rid of. I know because I've sold both through the app! People are usually willing to negotiate price as well. Just be sure to meet in a safe, public spot!

5. The Real Real

The Real Real is for designer brands only. If you're someone who appreciates Kate Spade, Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Burberry, Yeezy's, and so on, The Real Real is your spot! Shop high end clothes, jewelry, and watches at a fraction of the price. They even have a section about sustainability!

6. Grailed

I am REALLY excited to have discovered Grailed. Alright men, this is your spot! Grailed is exclusively for menswear, and they have a surprisingly large selection! I've had multiple men come up to me and let me know they'd like to start making ethical & sustainable fashion purchases, or shopping consignment, but that there aren't a lot of options. I will definitely start referring them here!

There you have it, now you can shop clothes that will last, at fast-fashion prices, without the harmful affects of fast-fashion! Give the environment and your wallet a break, I promise you'll love it!
